BABY SHOWER?

Okay Gimbel Ladies I think it's time for a blog about the baby shower! Karl said something about Paris Hilton? I need to hear the details. Some questions to consider answering:

Who travelled farthest to make it?
What dishes did Marjorie finally decide on?
Most unique gift?
Notable attendees?
Anything you really wanted that you didn't get? (so Karl and Emily can send it to you)
Did you play games?
and please post pictures!! (even if they're not of the baby shower, says Karl, because there hasn't been a picture posted in ages)

Emily, I'm so glad you wrote! I haven't seen you, or heard from you in ages. I wish you could have come to the shower. I really missed you! Same with Casey. It just didn't seem right without you two there!

First the Paris Hilton story. Edward and Meridth and I came in from the wrong direction to get the valet parking, so we had to go around the block, and when we did, there was paparazzi and fans all standing out in front of Paris Hilton's new store in the neighborhood. It looked like they may have been shooting a commercial.

The restaurant was very trendy, and Margie had rented a room upstairs that was surrounded on three sides by windows. There was a lounge area with fireplaces at the top of the stairs, and then you walked through a doorway to get through to our "porch-like" room. I took pictures, but with a non-digital camera, since I had forgotten my camera at home (typical). Richard's mom had a digital, but I haven't seen any of those pictures yet. Marjorie travelled the farthest, probably me the next farthest.

Marjorie chose three very diverse dishes to give all pallets a choice: there was a chicken salad, which I had, a french toast dish, that Betsey raved about, and a delicious eggs benedict dish, that the guest to my left sincerely enjoyed. There were baskets of sweetbreads served first, and fruit plates, then they served the main courses.

The two "games" if you can call them that were very low key (in keeping with Margie's laidback manner). The first was a survey like Karl posted a month or so ago, to find out how well the guests knew Betsey. The other was a variation of Bingo, where people marked off squares as Betsey opened gifts. For example, if she opened a package with bibs, you got to mark off "Bibs" on the Bingo card. It was great fun. Margie and Richard had also placed stickers on certain packages, and on certain place cards, so when a gift with a specific sticker was opened, the person with that sticker on her name card won a prize.

Notable attendees included Richard's mom, two of his sisters, and some relatives who didn't get to come to the wedding, but the most interesting guests were the two men who attended, Richard and Edward Russell. I think it's the first time I've seen men at a luncheon shower. Cute!

The most unique gift was a hand knitted brown fringed poncho with a matching cap. It was very little, and very funny because it had two pompoms at the end of the ties, and it looked just so Hippie-era, you had to laugh. What didn't she get? I think you'll have to hear from Betsey on that one. She had forty-five guests, so she got 45 presents. Unbelieveable.

Oh wait!!! I repent! The most unique gift was one of the gifts from Richard's mom. She gave Betsey some of Richard's old toys from when he was a baby, and his old baby blanket. It was hysterical.

Okay, this is too long. Margie, Betsey, Richard, Rusty and Meridth--what did I miss?
