I started wondering today about how many subscriptions to magazines Ed and Claudia have. I asked them, and they didn't even know! They are currently brainstorming the list and it will be posted on Friday evening.
But before then, I want to have a little contest for all those who read this wonderful (if a little stagnant) blog. I want all of you to weigh in. I know there are many lurkers here, but let's get the comments going on this! In order to encourage comments, I am offering an excellent prize. The prize includes the following:
One wallet sized picture of Nora at six months
A Hoosier Girls State plastic cup from when Margie attended Girls State.
A subscription to a magazine of your choice from Ed and Claudia (not the Economist, it is a pricey $100 a year!)
A Tears for Fears cassette that used to belong to Rusty (aka Edward)
A life-sized cardboard cut out of Michael Jordan that used to belong to Karl
A mug from the Bellmont High School 1994 Prom that Ryan used.
Okay, I may not send you any of that, other than the picture of Nora and the subscription. Unless you really want a life-sized cardboard cut out of Michael Jordan at your house.
Okay people, let's start guessing!
The winner will be announced on Friday at 5:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time

I need to know if the tally includes catalog subscriptions, because Hotel Gimbel receives a lot of catalogs.
No, not catalogs. Only items that Claudia and Ed pay to have come to their home.
My guess on subscriptions is 23 magazines. Though, one can never be too sure. Because Dad subscribes to so many magazines, he receives all-kinds of deals for other publications for ridiculous low pricing, like $12 a year or something. He has admitted that he can’t pass those by and often signs up. I would guess that compiling a list might prove challenging for him. ;-)
Here are some of the titles that at some point, I believe Dad has had subscriptions to:
- Road & Track
- Automotive News
- Outside
- Newsweek
- US News & World Report
- Chicago Magazine
- Chicago Home
- Vanity Fair
- Dwell
- Entertainment Weekly
- ESPN
- Bicycling Magazine
- Business Week
- Fast Company
- INC
- The Economist (Only if Dad got a deal otherwise as Betsey mentions, Dad thinks it’s too pricy. Though, it’s a weekly so for $100 a year isn’t much)
- National Geographic
- Some new magazine that I can’t think of the title. But he got me a subscription too.
I will ring in at 30.

(I'm in it to win it!! For the Nora pic of course)
Hey, I totally understand Ed and Claudia's addiction. Maybe an age something??? Well, just to add to the misery I thought you'd enjoy my favorite cheap magazine site

Right now a year's subscription to Mac Life is $4.95. Who can resist?
Thanks for being such a fun family.

24. My final answer.
Betsey says that I have to guess again because Ryan took 24. I guess 28. Yeah!
I'm waiting with bated breathe for the results. It's 4:29p EDT Though, thanks to my older brother, I've got little chance to win. It's either 23 or bust.
KG? Where are you at with your guess? You start the blog and then you just abandon it now that you've got a job?? I miss you, little brother.
