This Did Happen to Us...

...and it could happen to you too!

NEVER DRIVE EVER EVER IF YOU ARE FEELING DROWSY! PULL OVER FOR A NAP!

Meridth and I were extremely lucky that we weren't hurt and I just wish I could say the same of the L100. I was sleepy, drifted out of the left lane toward the meridian, overcorrected and ended up travelling latereally into an embankment of soft dirt on the right shoulder. We hit it going relatively slowly and tipped oved and rolled just 180 degrees. In other words, we were super-duper lucky. None of the airbages deployed. None of the glass smashed out. There were no other cars involved and we managed to miss all the signs. Meridth and I are a bit banged up and I figure we'll be black and blue for a while, but none the worse for wear. Anyway, more pics:

Glad to hear you are ok! Please becareful going forward and no more 24 hour drives.

According to the AAA website, "When you are behind the wheel of a car, being sleepy is dangerous. Sleepiness slows reaction time, decreases awareness, and impairs judgment, just like drugs or alcohol. And, just like drugs and alcohol, sleepiness can contribute to a collision.

Most people know how dangerous drinking and driving is -- but they may not know that driving drowsy can be just as fatal as driving drunk."

I'm REALLY amazed that the car (and yourselves) doesn't look worse than it does! The windshield is even still in one piece..?? Wow, what a humbling experience. I'm so glad you're both okay!

You guys! I'm so glad you're ok! But this is what I worry about when you drive long distances. Please be careful.

And I love how Brandon cites AAA websites when he comments. He's so funny.

xo!

Glad to hear that the accident wasn't worse and that everyone is okay! A good lesson learned for all of us!

Now we know why mothers worry so much ALL THE TIME!

It's so bizarre, because Benet was doing the same exact thing travelling here from New Jersey. He left at midnight, and drove all the way here, arriving at about ten o'clock. I prayed all night knowing that he would be in danger, and if I had known you were doing the same thing I would have been praying like crazy for you to be safe too!

But of course, you WERE safe. It was only the Saturn that wasn't safe. I have thanked Heavenly Father continuously, with all the energy of my soul, that you were both (fairly) unhurt. And I am still trying to think of some appropriately efflusive way to thank Wayne for giving up his Saturday when Michael, Jeralyn and the three grandchildren had just gotten there to visit. He is the definition of the good Samaritan.

I love all of you children (and that includes you Stacey, and you Teressa) (oh yes, that includes the spouses too) SO MUCH, and would be so heart-broken if anything were to happen to you. I do pray for you always!

Love. Claudia
