I know that all of you have heard the news about Grandpa. Dad and I are flying to Utah on Friday. The viewing is Sunday at Lindquist Mortuary, from 6:00 until 8:00, and the funeral will be Monday morning at 11:00. Wayne has asked me to be one of the speakers. I would love if you could share with me some of your favorite grandpa stories. If you don't have any favorite stories, what are some of the things you remember about Grandpa, especially from when you were little? I am still trying to think of what I want to say, and any help you could give me would be most appreciated.
I am sad for me, but really happy for my dad. Just think--he is finally free from that old crippled body! The next time he sees his body, it will be perfect. Hooray for resurrection!
I truly love you all. Hope to see you all soon. Claudia

I remember going to some plane museum with him when we were younger. Now that I think about it it was probably hill air force base or something like that. It was a lot of fun. I remember he bought me something from the gift shop and I was really excited. I don't even remember what it was now. I think it was just me, rusty and grandpa. And of course I remember that hilarious joke he told at thanksgiving this year. I'm not sure if that's appropriate for a funeral though. I don't know if i've ever been more shocked or laughed harder.

Yeah Karl, I remember Grandpa bought me a poster of a B-17 Flying Fortress.
Now this Thanksgiving joke story, that I don't know. Give me the skinny! I love when old people do shocking and amusing things.
I remember more than anything the trip to the West Coast where Grendpa came with us. That was so cool. We visited San Francisco and the Redwood forests. At a gift shop by that tree that's big enough to drive through, I got a cheapy harmonica, which I thought was pretty cool. But once Grandpa got a hold of that thing, man could he play a harmonica. I never asked him where he learned to play, and now I guess I'll have to wait to find out, but for a fourteen year old chubby kid, that was impressive.
And I always loved Gradpa's uniform: plaid shirt with snap buttons, dark slacks, black orthopedic shoes. Cowboy hat optional.
He's a great man and will be missed. We love you Mom, take care.

Well I really can't do it justice because it was just the way he said it. He hadn't said much all night. We were talking about doctors, being sick or something and he just said something of the sort that his doctor told him he can't pee standing up anymore because he's not supposed to do any heavy lifting. It fit into our conversation perfectly and just the smile on his face afterwards was priceless. Emily and I were laughing about it the rest of the night.

hehehehe! That is so hilarious! But maybe not for the funeral :)
I remember that grandpa was a master card and domino player. He wasn't the type to let you win, but was always jovial and happy when you did win :)
