Another reason to love being from the great state of Indiana is our Senior Senator Richard Lugar. Although a little late in his assesment, I think this should be a major wake-up call to the Republican administration and members of Congress who somehow still think that "staying the course" in Iraq is the right decision.

Hey Betsey I have a buddy who wants to work as a graduate assistant for the USC basketball team, but missed the application cut off for grad school. He knows I have a sister that goes there and asked if she knew anybody who could pull some strings or whatever. I thought it was unlikely, but figured I'd ask anyway... plus i'm sure you'll have some suggestions for him anyway. The funny thing is he is getting that job because he is buddies with the head basketball coach Tim Floyd (who used to coach the bulls). If you know the head coach why don't you have him pull some strings? I would think he would be a little more able to do so than my sister, but I guess you're pretty important around there ;)

And let's not forget where the great Dicky Lugar was educated. Denison University in Granville Ohio. He and Brandon are both alumns of the might DU -- along with Jennifer Garner, Micheal Eisner and some other old actor dude that I'm sure B will mention when he reads this blog.
Kisses!

Ah, Hal Holbrook.... And let's not forget Tony Hall, Bobby Rahal, George Bodenheimer, etc. Just too many to list...
Karl,
If the kid missed the deadline...no way I can help him. Which is a shame. The deadline for January 2008 admitance is probably in September/October. He should get started on that now. What graduate program is he interested in applying for? If he wants to work for the basketball team, he should just come out here and volunteer until he can start actually working.
Has he taken the GRE? Does he have the recommendation letters he needs? If he isn't concerned about what graduate program he applies for, many of them have a variety of deadlines. Some of the deadlines for programs starting in the fall may not have passed. He could apply to a different program if he is really just concered about working for the basketball team.
I'm back on July 3rd...you can give me a call anytime if he has any other questions.
