i'd like to introduce you to my little brother karl. he has grown a bit since i've seen him last. he is now 6'9" and 250 pounds. other than that he grew up in Tuscaloosa Alabama and went to hillcrest high school where he averaged 20 pts, 15 rebounds, and six blocks as a senior and shot better than 60% from the floor during his career at hillcrest. he earned Parade Magazine All-American, Alabama Gatorade State Player of the Year, Alabama Super 5 6A Player of the Year, first team all-state and first team West Alabama honors as a senior. he was rated No. 14 in the final Insiders.com Top 100 rankings, had 10 points and eight rebounds in the 2004 Jordan Capital Classic on April 17 and added seven points and five rebounds in the March 31 McDonald's All-American Game. he came off the bench with four points and four rebounds to help the United States to a 99-79 victory over the World Select Team at the 2004 Hoops Summit Presented By Nike. Karl averaged eight points and eight rebounds as a freshman; 16 points and nine rebounds as a sophomore; 19 points, 10 rebounds, four blocks and four assists as a junior. Karl was a member of the South team at the 2003 USA Basketball Youth Development Festival, where he started all five games and averaged 18.6 ppg, 10 rpg, 7 bpg, 6 apg and 6 spg. he finished the Festival with 20 points and 10 rebounds in his team's 135-116 gold medal victory over the North team. Karl attended Nike Camp and NBA Players Association Camp in 2003. Karl is the son of Edward and Claudia Gimbel, was born on Aug. 31, 1986 and is enrolled in University Division.
