Karl: A Question

I don't know if you remember, but I was 'out of town' for 2001 which means I missed the whole Donnie Darko thing, but upon my return I had the impression that the movie was quite beloved by Karl at the time. After all, he was around 16 at the time, great age to get into something really cool. I mean, OK Computer came out when I was 16. Anywho, I never saw the movie until just recently and I wanted to hear Karl's impressions of it.

So Karl, if you're out there, flash back and let me know what you liked about it. Really I ought to just call you for a chat about it, but really? I suck at phone talking. Ask Ed and Claudia. That and I live in the one Verizon blackout zone inside of CONUS.

Alternately, so as not to alienate the rest of you, what came out when you were circa 16 that made you start to take the featured medium (film, popular music, art whatevs) more seriously? (Or maybe just made you feel cool?)
