Gimbel Christmas Swap

Have we decided who is going to give to who in the Gimbel Family Christmas Gift Exchange this year? I don't think so!

Let's review from last year...

Ryan gives to Brandon
Casey gives to Richard
Margie gives to Betsey
Brandon gives to Emily
Betsey gives to Meridth
Richard gives to Margie
Edward gives to Karl
Meridth gives to Casey
Karl gives to Ryan
Emily gives to Edward

Now, I think that what we should do is just rotate the people up. Like this...

Ryan gives to Richard
Casey gives to Betsey
Margie gives to Emily
Brandon gives to Meridth
Betsey gives to Margie
Richard gives to Karl
Edward gives to Casey
Meridth gives to Ryan
Karl gives to Edward
Emily gives to Brandon

Unless anyone wants to just do "couple" gifts. For example, Edward and Meridth give to Margie and Brandon (just an example). Anyway, what do you think?

P.S. Claudia told me something that she wants for Christmas, it is big, so if you kids want to go in on it with me, let's chat!

Don't worry people, I got your back!

A post in three parts.

PART ONE:

Spotted, on Euclid Avenue near Case Western Reserve University

Don't worry Richard, we couldn't believe it either!

PART TWO:

We voted early.  That's right people, because our vote is more important that yours (sorry!), this is an important day for you.  Don't worry, we are looking out for you all.  We voted for OBAMA!

PART THREE:

I signed the Gimbel Family Blog up for NaBloPoMo.  That means that we have to post at least once a day for the entire month of November.  The internet is challenging us, and we can't let it down!  We have been a little stagnant here.  The challenge worked well in February.  Let's do it again.  I know that there are a lot of fun things to discus coming up.  The menu for Margie's Thanksgiving feast, the Election, Rusty's arabic speaking ways, Karl's job, Nora's awesome teething, Cute pictures of Chloe and Ashley!  Honestly people, we can do it!

A Halloween Joke I read on the Wrapper of a Laffy Taffy

"Why don't monsters eat clowns?"

Alright, let's just stop right there. I cannot think of a more scary or disturbing image than a monster eating or not eating clowns. Wow, years of therapy undone in a blinding flash of confectionary anarchy.

The answer of course is "They taste funny."

More from Janesville...

...right here.

I don't know why I keep posting about this topic since I barely remember Wisconsin, but there you go.

Ashley bo Bashley

Here's a few reasons why Ashley is amazing and cool:Ashley is really fun to be around and is the best conversationalist probably ever.Ashley's funny like her Dad.Ashley is the best cousin, niece and sister.

We love you Ashley lots and lots!

We love Richard!

I love watching Richard with Nora. He's so cute with her.
Sorry this is a little late, but I wanted to post this picture for Richard's Birthday. (Even though he has an interest in collecting Barbie dolls ;) We remember when we first met Richard and he came over to our house to hang out with a bunch of random friends and we were impressed by how charming and interesting he was (and he brought us ice-cream and that was a definite plus). We love and miss you Richard!

love,

Meridth & Edward

Almost a Teen-ager!

Today is Ashley's twelfth birthday!  Happy Birthday to my Special Girl!  It's hard to imagine that she could be so old.  I can vividly remember my twelfth birthday.  Zina Petersen came and spent the night, and gave me a little kitten for my birthday.  My best school friend, Elizabeth Byleen gave me one of those bouncy balls to play foursquare.  And my mom made my favorite meal, barbecue spare ribs.  I had a chocolate cake with chocolate frosting.  The reason I remember it so well is that it was my "golden" birthday.  I was twelve on June twelfth.

Ashley's golden birthday will be when she turns twenty-one--only nine more years from now.  Ashley has some fun things planned for her special day, thanks to mom and dad, so I hope it is a memorable day for her, too.

We love you, sweetheart, and wish you the greatest day!

My Roommate

This was in my mail box today addressed to my roommate...  made me laugh...

California Gimbel Update!

Okay so it's less of an update and more of a response to one of those chain-type letters that people send where you have to answer all manner of probing personal questions. Check it out here. Or don't.

Twenty-nine Years of Richard Hawkins

So today, Richard turned twenty-nine.  I was thinking about what a blessing that he came into our family!  I remember when I was scrapbooking all the pictures for their wedding that I felt as if I already knew him.  Working with those pictures gave me a small sense of being part of his family, and experiencing his growing up time.  I suppose it's kind of like when you read a story, and live, vicariously through the adventures of the protagonist.

Anyway, I hope Richard and Betsey have a wonderful day, celebrating in their little family.  I hope the Birthday Bird was able to find Richard in Cleveland.  Doughnuts, anyone?

So, Richard, Happy Birthday, and here's to many more!  Love, from Ed and Claudia

Predictions

Sam sent me this picture from Minneapolis.  Looks like Dad's prediction might be off by a couple of months, but still impressive.
